Alissa Warshaw
For LA-based artist Alissa Warshaw, the sounds, colors, and textures of the natural world are fundamental influences. Her current body of work begins with delicately balanced ink lines, after which metallic watercolor washes weave abstracted impressions of the glittering waters, lush evergreen trees, and vibrant flowers of her native Puget Sound. The unpredictable alchemies at the interface of water and pigment are bound to the artist’s concern for the health of the planet and its life-giving waters. Rooted in moments of observation, reflection, and memory, her work takes form in a variety of media: drawing, painting, encaustic, fiber, ceramic and metal, always coming back to the line as a basis of structure.
Alissa Warshaw was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and received her BFA at Parsons School of Design in NYC. Her art has been shown in many group exhibitions in New York City and Los Angeles, in addition to 2 recent solo exhibitions held in the LA area this past year. She has participated in several Open Studio events for the Brewery Artwalk, each highlighting the exploration of a different medium. Her work is held in a number of private collections.
