Art of Sound

The Art of Sound Gallery and the c3: Center for Conscious Creativity are honored to feature Artist-In-Residence artist and c3 2023 FutureVision Awardee, Jeff Hoke during the Fall 2024 ARTWALK. On display will be Jeff’s innovative artwork (see select images on left), his whimsical artbook, MUSEUM OF LOST WONDER, and his model kits inspired by his interest in alchemy and more.

The award-winning artist and author Jeff Hoke explores oddities in both science and mysticism.  Using wit, whimsy, and humor, Jeff explores obscure aspects of history and philosophy to create something fun and personally relevant to all. His eccentric work in art and print uses the transformative psychology of alchemy to make them meaningful.

Reviewers have written, “His work is a treasure trove that can be endlessly explored in search of surprising facts, strange images, thought-provoking ideas, and exciting experiments. Hoke continually manages to stimulate the imagination so that nothing is what it seems to be and everything is enchanted.” Others have expressed that, “Hoke is inspired by the eclectic museums and curiosity cabinets of the 1600s and he wants to return us to a time before “science became a belief system unto itself,” a time when artist-alchemist-scientists were able to search for inner truth via mystical experiences and experiments without being ridiculed.”

Biography

Jeff has created professional museum exhibits for over 35 years in museums around the world. His mission has been to take the arcane impersonal nature of museum exhibits and make them fun and relevant to people.  His experience in museums stirred him to create an iconoclastic online museum of his own. Visit his website at www.lostwonder.org. Here you can have an interactive tour of the museum and see his artwork and publications that will be at the ArtWalk.

Kate McCallum’s introduction to the arts was through her training as a flutist and an operatic soprano. She then went on to study creative theory, communications and media arts then relocated from Michigan to Los Angeles after graduating from Western Michigan University. Kate found her way into the entertainment industry working first on sets in a variety of production crew positions before discovering her calling as a creative producer and writer. Kate spent 20 years working at NBCUniversal and Paramount Studios in the development and production of primetime scripted television, long form and feature films working alongside some of the top writers and showrunners in the industry, and for 8 years of those years she served as a creative development executive. While honing her professional skills and a deep understanding of story, Kate kept her own personal art spirit alive by opening a photography studio and writing spec scripts and TV series concepts while working days in the studios.

Kate loves collaborating with other creatives and artists and founded Bridge Arts Media, LLC in 2004 so that she could work in a variety of mediums including film, live events, music, books and magazines. Because of her love for music, she launched a unique music+art label called THE ART OF SOUND bringing together visual artists and musicians to create not just albums, but live performances, artwork and  eventually fulldome immersive and VR content which is what she is also producing today. Her first fulldome art+music concert took place in The Vortex Dome with visual artist Audri Phillips and musician/composer Winter Lazerus. She then went on to produce several more fulldome music+art concerts, and she produced the award-winning 360 fulldome shows Mesmerica and Beautifica with James Hood and director Michael Saul. Most recently Kate is also working on the award-winning The Journey 360 with musicians Jahna and Michael Perricone, animator and director, Brianna Amore and executive producer, Ed Lantz.
