Bianca Dorso

My name is Bianca Dorso. I am a photographer, born, living and working in Los Angeles.

In the early weeks of the lockdown I had some losses that were not covid-19 related. Then my four legged companion of 14 years, Lily, died unexpectedly. Being sheltered in place, unable to see friends and family, the grief felt unbearable. Thus the antlers and the blanket, the howling and the dancing. At that instant I heard a voice every camera person knows saying, “get your camera, take pictures, it will make you feel better.” Each day I would get the camera, the blanket and the antlers and take pictures, letting the sessions evolve naturally based on what I was feeling. As a result, the pictures you see are part of a series that is the expression of my grief.

The color abstractions are photographs painted over with vibrant colors, renewing my spirit…and the dance continues.
