Jane the Artist
Samantha Jane Harrold paints her emotions, disguised as portraits of whimsical children, with exaggerated details. She paints herself, over and over again, to release all the wild parts of her, into the world. She signs her work with “Jane,” her middle name, inherited by her great grandmother who was also an artist.

When she isn’t painting her own feelings, she helps others discover they have no bad parts by offering trauma conscious somatic therapy and clinical art therapy through her telehealth only private practice Moth & Flame (mothandflametherapy.com and instagram @mothandflame_therapy).
Jane graduated from UCSB with a BA in Psychology and Art in 2013, and Loyola Marymount University in 2025 with an MA in Clinical Art Therapy and Marriage and Family Therapy. She has been painting since she was a child, has been working as an Board Certified Art Therapist since 2015. Currently showing work at The Hive Gallery in downtown LA and participating in both fall and spring LA Brewery Art Walks.
Jane identifies as a witch of many crafts, and though her favorite medium is oil painting, she also designs and sews her own clothes, sculpts clay dolls and uses a variety of art materials and word craft. Each painting births its own poem and she writes fiction in her space time.
