Born in Brazil, Marcia lived in São Paulo until moving to Europe. She lived in Portugal and Italy for several years and
now resides in Los Angeles, California. She has loved literature since she learned to read; and has been enchanted
by words and their meanings; making books her passion and, later, a passion for human society and its customs, its
countries, and its cities. Although it took years to leave her native country, she knew there were horizons on land and
oceans.
She studied law. Criminal law was her goal. Nearing the end of her degree, now familiar with the laws and their
loopholes—more loopholes than laws—she gave up her journey because she knew it was impossible to bring justice
to the dead, her clients. She left her homeland and traveled…
Taking some books and notebooks with her, (she couldn't take her whole library), she continued to read, write, and
record her daily observations and everything she encountered along the way. Over time, she realized she couldn't
walk the streets with a diary jotting down everything she saw, and that she couldn’t store it all reliably as memories.
She bought a camera, knowing it would provide a colorful record that would mark her path to survival in the face of
loneliness, existential emptiness, and the search for meaning in life.
