Employing the medium of oil paint, my work delves into themes of love, loss, and longing, seeking to unravel the complexities of our existence. My paintings explore the nuanced emotional turbulence inherent in the female experience, particularly in dating, sexuality, beauty, nostalgia, and the inevitable progression of time. Drawing inspiration from daily walks, the work infuses imagery from memories, endowing the pieces with layers of nostalgic sentiment and echoes of the natural world. Utilizing elements of nature—whether in its vibrant bloom or
delicate decay— metaphorically delves into the entanglement of human relationships with others and oneself.
The work addresses the tender, painful, and bittersweet realities of girlhood and womanhood, often overshadowed in visual art. Seeking to make sense of intense, volatile, and complex emotions, these paintings become a sanctuary for rest and reflection. The artwork delves into the strength found in vulnerability and the profound act of self-discovery through the painting medium. Conceptualizing the work with the romanticism and sentimentality accompanying the passage of time, the artistic endeavor becomes a contemplative excavation of intimate spaces. I aspire to further investigate the fragmented and disjointed recollection of nostalgia clouded memories and how it influences other aspects of one’s choices. Vulnerable and fragile, these constructed spaces emerge as visual diary entries, portraying the intense introspection of oneself and the surrounding environment with visceral intensity and vigor.
